Apothecary + Food Addon is the better mod right now, IMO. I’m a former CACO user who switched to Apothecary when I realized that I don’t use most of CACO’s new features. The bombs, waxes, and poultices are very underwhelming unless you restrict yourself to alchemy for a themed playthrough. There is this one that replaces the crappier CACO effects with some from Apothecary's.
